Exports and Sharing

Once you’ve run a plan you’re happy with, RetireRange can package it up to keep, print, or hand to someone else — including your financial advisor.

What you can export

  • PDF — a full report of your results, including charts and your AI summary (if you’ve generated one). The natural format to print or email.
  • Spreadsheet — your results as data (spreadsheet and CSV), so you can do your own analysis or keep records. The CSV includes a short disclaimer line in its header, so if you share the file the modeling-and-assumptions framing travels with the numbers.
  • Presentation slides — a slide deck of key results and the AI summary, handy for walking someone else through your plan.

Details worth knowing:

  • Chart images — PNG and SVG chart downloads carry the results disclaimer in a footer band below the chart, as the PDF and slide exports do on their own pages.
  • CSV files — a text field that begins with =, +, – or @ (a scenario or person name, say) gets an apostrophe in front so a spreadsheet shows it as text instead of running it as a formula. Ordinary negative numbers are unaffected.
  • Number formats — amounts just under a million round up to the millions form ($999,500 shows as $1.00M). Negative dollar amounts in the PDF, slides, and both results emails use accounting style, such as ($1.5K).
  • A dash means not available — where a value could not be computed, the PDF, slides, and emails show — rather than $0. In the optimizer spreadsheet that cell is left empty, and on the optimizer chart the After-Tax Legacy line has a gap at that candidate. A dash means the value was not available for that run, not zero.
  • Year labels — year-by-year rows are labelled with the calendar year they cover, with portfolio columns at that year’s end. Exports match the Results tab.

The AI summary, when present, is woven into the PDF and slide exports so the numbers come with a plain-language read.

Sharing by email

  • Email your AI summary — send the plain-language write-up of a scenario to yourself straight from the Results tab.
  • Optimizer results by email — because a big optimization can run for a while, you can let it run in the background and have the results emailed to you when it finishes, with a link to open them. The link carries its access token after a #, and once the results page opens it removes the token from the address bar, which keeps it out of server logs and browser history. After that the address bar shows the plain results URL, which needs you to be signed in, so don’t count on bookmarking the link with its token. The plain-text version of the email includes the full disclaimer.

A note on sharing with your advisor

Exports are a great way to make an advisor conversation productive — you arrive with the scenarios, the trade-offs, and the questions already in hand. Pair an export with the model’s methodology so your advisor can see exactly how the numbers were produced. (Just remember the results are modeled projections for discussion, not advice — see Limitations.)
